A flower from the rubble

A flower from the rubble.

Alongside the mission of the International Composition 2 Agosto, which for 15 years offers young composers from around the world the opportunity to see his music performed before thousands of spectators on the Piazza Grande in Bologna and radio-television, the Ensemble 2 Agosto is intended to help spread the message of peace that inspired the Association of the families of victims of the massacre.
The ensemble born in 2009 through an international announcement, which joined Italian and European musical institutions, the Conservatorio “G. Frescobaldi” of Ferrara, who offers his residence, the music academies of Brescia, Matera, Madrid, Padova, the Department of History of arts, music and entertainment of the University of Milan, who provided a useful support network for the spread of the notice.
Particular attention is given to the choice of repertoire, largely devoted to contemporary music, and the originality of the cultural program, organized mainly in special projects: this year indeed, at the debut at the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano 2009, the ensemble brought together with a melodrama, based on a text written and read by Marcello Fois, “Where to blows in May …“: the issue concerns the choice of hell without the war, seen through the eyes desperate mother.
The project has already been replicated by Poiein Festival and will be taken from the Festival MozArtBox 2010.
Other projects include working with great soloists – including Christophe Desjardins – who have already accepted the invitation to feed young musicians, which ranges all the way from the laboratory of interpretation to the public concert and recording.
